Our Mission

The mission of this website is to educate youths/students, parents and guardians, educators and stakeholders, academic communities, social workers, Non-governmental organizations, faith based organizations, the government and all members of the community about the risks and consequences of being involved with a campus cult/gang.

Our ultimate goal is the creature of awareness, reliable techniques of prevention, quick and diplomatic intervention and rehabilitation of youth, one at a time, from becoming involved with a cult/gang due to the avalanches of regrets that trails it.

The Birth of Nigerian Campus Cult/Gang Groups and it's Consequences

Increasing violent cult/gang activities in Nigerian institutions and environs in the late 80’s and till date heightened tensions, uncertainty, restlessness, militancy, campus terrorism and fierce struggle for supremacy and show off to pass a “We are in charge signal” to others that might be willing to dare. Most peaceful social groups suddenly became violent in order to survive and in order to keep to pace. The truth is that they have been overwhelmed by the great violence, destruction and pain they cause others and themselves. Even those who could not hurt “flies” under normal situation have been made murderers, robbers, thugs, highly violent and brutal entities and full of immorality because of their involvement in secret cult/gang activities. Sometimes, they emit these evils unconsciously. This is because cult/gang members are encouraged by their leaders to be wild and inconsiderate in dealing with non-members, members of other cults/gang and even members of same cult/gang groups who disobey in any form. Many secret cult/gang members do not know the fact that cultism is a lethal weapon fashioned against humanity, while some know yet do not want to accept this fundamental truth, rather they go against the truth, to justify their vain desires.

Cultism/gangsterism found its way into the Nigerian institutions of learning as far back as early 50’s. There was no time that any cultists’ action that could disrupt the peaceful co-existence in the academic communities was recorded until late 80’s as a result of loss of values in the society. It was in this same 80’s that moral decadence as a result of bad leadership due to incessant military rule that led to fall in moral values in our nation, Nigeria. The civil war, political instabilities, religious brouhaha, violence, high rate of assassination, gross misconducts and disorderliness here and there in our country are as a result of selfish protection of personal interest by our leaders. This has made almost every Nigerian, in his\her own small unit, to have a cause to grief and therefore crave for power to satisfy personal interest.

The menace of cultism is a reflection of the shadow of the larger society.  Most leaders in Nigeria who are supposed to lead by example lack those essential ingredients for productive leadership, strength of character, political will, right policies implementation, right values and personal virtues hence could not produce the desirable positive change in the lives of Nigerians, most especially the youths.

Cultism is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the bone marrow of every institution of higher learning in Nigeria. The newly created Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education can never be left out; it is only a matter of time. The issue of cultism is as real as human existence.

Cultism is highly suicidal, it is transferred from one individual to another, wanders from one campus to the other and the society pays its ultimate price. Our tertiary institutions and many secondary schools, in recent times, have progressively witnessed unprecedented severe violence from various cult clashes. A more worrisome trend to this hair-raising inhuman act is the fact that the commando-like operations have largely been targeted at the peaceful co-existence of lecturers as well as other workers and students in the various campuses and environs.  In the world of today, the devil is thirsty and this portends a threat to peace. Violence, attrition, and darkness are enveloping the world because the various secret cult groups and their members feel they are big and God is small.

The proliferation of the various illicit groups has led to moral decadence, campus terrorism, examination malpractices, drug addiction, and the mother of it all-Cultism cum Gangsterism, which has adversely threatened the nation in the following ways:

1.         Individual Development

(i)         It has brought premature death to many youthful lives.

(ii)        It affect the morale of the individual

(iii)       It promotes acts of indiscipline and immorality among youth.

(iv)       It renders the individual unsociable, psychologically deranged, emotionally destabilized, mentally and spiritually confused.

(v)        It exposes the individual to HIV/AIDS through mutual sharing of same unsterilized piercing object during initiation and the use of same unsterilized syringes and needles during drug abuse.

(vi)       After initiation, they assume ‘Super-human’ form, and indulge in criminal activities e.g. armed robbery, assassins, kidnappings, rape, assault and battery, drug peddling, e.t.c that can take them to jail, if found guilty.

(vii)      Most Cultist cum Gangsters are potential rapist, and research has revealed that most rapist hardly use Condom during sex orgy or rape.

(viii)     The fortunate ones, graduate to become half- baked graduate.

2.         Educational Development

(i)         It erodes quality and standard education.

(ii)        It diminishes integrity and confidence in our educational system.

(iii)       It creates an entrenched disincentive to academic pursuit and planning excellence.

(iv)       It threatens the peaceful and progressive co-existence in our campuses and vicinities.

3.         Societal and National Developments

(i)         It has being a threat to the internal security of the nation leading to loss of lives and properties.

(ii)        It has brought untold sorrow to many homes whose wards had being killed, maimed, raped, expelled or rusticated, victimized, e.t.c.

(iii)       It weakens the family ties and societal cum cultural values due it’s success in producing ‘Monsters’ for the nation which has made them to be nuisance to themselves, eyesore to their family, a bunch of nonentity to the society.

(iv)       It tarnishes the country’s already battered image, creditability and national pride.

Also, a sentinel survey carried out on various campuses and vicinities showed that between 1995 and 2004, about 1,743 cultists have died; about 23 innocent students became victims of circumstances. While, about 6,733 cultists were maimed and about 115 innocent students maimed.

In most secondary schools, many students are well conversant with the different secret cults that are available in our institutional campus. On a more serious note, our secondary schools are now a veritable ground for breeding cultists. Examples of the different types of secret cults in our tertiary institutions of learning are: Klu Klu Klan, Malphites, Vickings, Neo-Black Movement a.k.a. Black Axe, Pyrates or Seadogs, Black Pyrate, Jurist, Buccaneer or Sealords, Supreme Eiye Confraternity, Mafia, Maumau, Thu-Thu, Red Sea, Mgbamgba Brothers, Black Cat, The Fame, Snow Men, Fraternity of Friends, Black Cobra of Ife, Canary, Green Berrets, The Blood Spot, Scorpion, etc.

Also, the Beijing Conference of 1994 is paying off. The usual assertion being made to commemorate the conference “What a man can do, a woman can do better,” also transcends to the realm of cultism.  What hitherto used to be the affairs of men is now being championed by women. We have heard of different female cult groups known as sorority. They include, Black-bra, Black Berets, Woman Brassier(brave), Daughters of Jezebel, Pink Lady, Amazons, White Angels, Lady of Rose, Sisterhood of Darkness, Golden Daughters, The Ten wonderful Girls, White Ladies, The Royal Queens, Daughters of the Knight, The Knights of the Aristos, etc. The sorority groups were formed as female responses to their male counterparts’ activities, imitations, and most interestingly these females are girlfriends of the members of the male cult groups. They act as spies to their male counterparts, prostitutions syndicates, agents of set-ups, e.t.c.

In time past, the secret cults carry out their activities in the “secret” or in the night. That is what earned them the prefix “secret”. The issue of the secrecy of the cults is different these days. On a second though, one may ask. “Are secret cult membership and activities really secret these days?” No, they aren’t I may say. The nefarious activities of the various secret cult groups are now being carried out during the day and night to show that they are becoming bold in their efforts to integrate their intolerable activities into the normal societal life.

Therefore, it is plain that joining any of these banned groups is like mortgaging one’s career and future for an unprofitable investment, and it’s ultimate goal is character transformation into social vices. The resultant effects are inimical to public and academic communities’ peace and development.

Cultism, poses serious threat to both personal and national securities. It is the training ground for armed robbers, assassins, human traffickers, drug traffickers and barons, rapist, covetousness, lack of contentment, greed, just to mention a few. Concerned authorities and parents take the issue of cultism lightly because they know not that it is a spreading virus. It is a collective issue that needs to be tackled systematically, tactically and technically.

Cultism has penetrated deeply into every segment of the society with the higher institutions being the primary targets. In the past, the cultists were viewed to be men and women of integrity who never loose their virtues. They kept their focus and were guided by it without obstructing the peace of the immediate environment. But the moral decadence in the family tree and the bastardization of the natural resources by egocentric and iniquitous politicians has made cultists to seek for selfish interest. Hence, they are transformed into robots or lethal machines that have no value for the sanctity of life.

It is unfortunate to note that in this global milieu when education is faced with technological and intellectual development, Nigerian tertiary institution and some secondary schools are being plagued with the aforementioned factors as result of this menace to our society. A peaceful campus is a sine-qua non for maximum impartation of knowledge.
